Traditional Siberian Evenki hand forged knf. crafted in Karelian Birch
This is a traditional Siberian hand forged Evenki knife.
BLADE: 3 3/4" long Forged SAE52100 high carbon steel (Wheel bearing). Thickness 5 mm.
Handle: 4 1/4" long Karelian Birch Wood with genuine moose antler insert and bolster.
The sheath is crafted from the traditional genuine Karelian Birch and treated with natural oils and beeswax. Karelian Birch (aka curly birch) apparently was very highly regarded amongst the members of the Royal Romanov family. Their palaces were elaborately decorated with furniture and other crafts made of Karelian birch.
The belt loop is crafted from a genuine leather with genuine YAKUT HORSE HAIR braid belt loop with a décorative BEAR CLAW.

Karelian Birch wood is a fairly rear find. Moreover, the Wood have to be harvested in the winter while the trees are dormant and have less moisture in them. Once harvested, It takes a full year to properly dry and age the Wood to ensure it does not crack before it can be used to craft a traditional knife. Once treated with oils and beeswax each block reveals its amazing pattern that is unique in its character and beauty.
